course objective
To bring together academia, national laboratories, equipment manufacturers, and end users to exchange ideas and research. The objective of this workshop is to present FAST (also known as Spark Plasma Sintering or SPS) as an emerging manufacturing technology process that has a significant impact on sintering and densification of various ceramic, metallic, and composite materials.

attendee take aways

  • Learn about the effect of external electric current / field effect on materials properties and processes
  • Develop a basic knowledge about the main processing parameters in FAST and enhance materials properties
  • Create new processing opportunities using external current / field applications
  • Transfer knowledge to end users and bridge the gap of interaction between end users, industries, researchers, and equipment manufacturers
  • Explore potential joint collaborative research efforts

who should attend
This workshop is designed to facilitate the transition of technology to end users. Participants from industry, the government, national laboratories, nonprofit organizations, and academia (including students) are encouraged to attend.
